To deepen the understanding of Chinese culture, history and martial arts among foreign teachers and international students, School of International Education organized a research trip to explore traditional Chinese culture from March 9th to 10th, 2024. Participants included foreign teachers and international students from Malaysia, Algeria, Vietnam, Yemen, Mongolia, Pakistan and Tajikistan.
At the Shaolin Temple, the students and teachers watched professional martial arts performances and learned basic kungfu skills such as Shaolin boxing and Shaolin staff under the guidance of masters. They experienced the power and beauty of Chinese martial arts and gained insights into Shaolin kungfu, which is not merely a form of combat but also a way to cultivate one's mind and body, embodying the Chinese philosophy of pursuing harmony and balance in life.
At the Longmen Grottoes, the group was amazed by the magnificent scenery of this World Heritage Site. They visited famous attractions such as the Lushena Buddha and the Ten Thousand Buddha Cave, gaining insights into the history and development of Buddhist art. This visit deepened their understanding of Buddhist culture and sparked a greater interest in Chinese history and culture.
During the research trip, foreign teachers and international students had the opportunity to interact with local Chinese students, sharing their cultural backgrounds and life experiences. This exchange enhanced their understanding and appreciation of Chinese culture while improving their cross-cultural communication skills, leaving them with unforgettable memories and invaluable experiences.
